From the MSN Buccaneer group:

I just got off the phone from a 15 minuteconversation with A Mr. Dave Crosby!  This came from a rather circuitous journey From US Marine in Arlington to Brunswick boat group in  New Jersey.

On the naming of the line.
Bayliner made it a point to name thier various series after bays and water ways around the area So just off of northern Thormanby Island is the waters that were thought of and where we can trace roots.

The naming for local waters stopped in the early 80's and became an employee contest.

Who designed the boats?
From the 27 on down it was an in house team of engineers.  the 2 names that became recurrent features are Bob Neck and Clark Scarboro.  these 2 were part of an inhouse design team taking direction From Mr Edson (95% owner of the company then) and a Mr. Chuck James in sales and Marketing  as to desires and isight of the sailing public.  So add these two name to the hall of names  with the likes of Bill Garden and Doug Peterson, Pearson and Oren Edson

The goal was a sturdy reasonably priced boat that wasn't ment for great ocean voyages.  Untill the creation of the 29's 30's 35's.
Trailerabilty was a big factor but not a major drive for the shoaldraft keel.

Diesel and the 24
He thought there was a US245 with but for the most part they felt more power and economy was available from an outboard at the time.

The die off of the line
The decline in sales and production (For every 300 power 1 sail between all three locations) became the desideing factor.  The market changed.

The name change.
US yachts was always a subsidiary of bayliner the div
esting allowed the team to make modifications to the line to go after better performance designs and open up the field (maybe this is where the diesel 24 would have come from)

Location Location Location
Any thing Above 27Ft was made at Arlington WA.  The bulk of the 27 fleet was too.  Because of smaller size the rest of the fleet was manufactured (Along with 27's) also in Pipestone Min. and Valdasta GA. Nationwide coverage was assured.

Amongst all this the person i spoke with stated that thereis a colection of sales and merketing brochures that he will help me get copies of for accessable archival purposes.  At the same time I intend to send a copy of this for clarification and correction.  The last thing I want to do is misrepresent the information that was kindly offered on his, US Marine and Brunswicks part in helpingus all to preserve this info.

That's all for now  nicole
